Where our story begins
Inspired by the remarkable work of Jose Nuñez and the vibrant Athletics For All community in Azusa, the AFA Foundation was created to expand a vision rooted in opportunity and belonging.
As a high school senior, Jose faced the devastating reality of being unable to accept a hard-earned athletic scholarship due to his undocumented status. What felt like a closed door became a turning point.
Years later, that experience inspired the creation of Athletics For All gym and, ultimately, the AFA Foundation: an organization committed to ensuring that no young person is denied opportunities because of their circumstances.

What we do
Supporting youth through grants, scholarships, and community programs.
Mini grants
Grants are awarded to children ages 8–18 to help cover sports-related dues and registration fees, ensuring they can participate in athletics and events.
Scholarships
Our scholarships support high school and community college students as they transition from school to pursuing higher education.
Together, we can build a future where opportunity is not limited by circumstance.
All donations made through our fundraising platform support the general operations of the foundation and help us continue expanding opportunities for students and communities.
